Dining in the Nanaimo Area
As the home of the internationally known Nanaimo Bar, Nanaimo must be the perfect place to sample one for desert. From traditional pub fare to a candle-lit meal, in a seat overlooking a marina and Newcastle Channel, you'll find it in Nanaimo.

Most all of the major fast food chains are represented in the area. Downtown you may find a restaurant specializing in Japanese cuisine. Italian, Chinese, Mexican, and many more ethnic food restaurants are found in the area.

Fish and chips, seafood, steak, pizza, and a wide array of other dishes are available. Don't forget that many of the resorts and hotels in the vicinity have excellent dining facilities. No matter what your taste or budget you'll be able to get a great meal.

And, oh by the way, the original "Nanaimo Bar" is a three layered bar, with butter, cocoa, chopped almonds, custard, semi-sweet chocolate, and other ingredients, that is absolutely delicious and available in variations at many of the local restaurants.
