We are excited about Summerhill's flourishing winery in the pristine lake and mountain city of Kelowna, British Columbia. Summerhill Estate Winery is now established as a destination tourist attraction, currently receiving 8-12 tour buses every day.

Some Types of Wines Available in British Columbia

WHITES

Auxerrois - Widely planded in Alsace, this grape has adapted well to the local regions.  THe wines are delicately fruity with a wonderful peachy aroma.

Bacchus -  This German varietal makes wines with notable perfumed aromas.  Can be dry or off-dry.

Chardonnay -  Produces a variety of winde styles from lean and fresh to rich and buttery, depending on the site, growing season and maturation processes.

Chasselas -  Switzerland's leading wine grape, Chasselas produces a delicate crisp wine with apple and citrus aromas and flavours.

Ehrenfelser -  Riesling like in character, Ehrenfelser ranges from fruity and spicey in dry versions to rich and sweet apricot in late harvest wines.

Gewurztraminer -  Produces a classic spicy, lush wine with a perfumed aroma.

Riesling - BC's most widely planted grape varietal.  The wine is light, delicate and flowery with a crisp, clean character that ranges from dry to medium dry.  The grape has rich honey-like qualities when left on the vine to freeze for icewine.

Pinot Blanc -  This Grape shows great promise for British Columbia.  This noble grape's history dates back to 14th centruy France.   The wines vary in style from crisp and fruity to dry and flinty with good body.
REDS

Cabernet Sauvignon -  Relatively new to the valley, this Bordeaux grape produces rich, full flavoured wines. Tastes range from peppery to black currant.

Chancellor -  Produces a fruity wine with notes of raspberry and cherry.

Marechal Foch -  This grape makes sturdy wines with plenty of fruit and berry flavours.  With oak aging it can make it a rich, full flavoured wine.

Merlot -  This soft Bordeaux grape is mellow and rich in fruit and berry aromas.

Pinot Noir -  One of the world's great grapes, Pinot Noir is becoming widely grown throughout the valley.  Spicy and smooth with a hint of dark cherry and plum.
