Revelstoke - A Four Season Rocky Mountain Playground

The alpine city of Revelstoke, nestled between the Monashee and Selkirk mountain ranges, has something for everyone, whether it is summer or winter. 

Thirteen meters (40 feet) of annual snowfall promise endless powder for downhill, cross country, snowcat, helicopter, and ski touring adventures, as well as snowmobiling. 

Located on the Trans-Canada Highway (Hwy 1) 410 km (256 mi) west of Calgary and 209 km (131 mi) east of Kamloops, you'll find awesome scenery and a beautifully restored downtown as well as excellent accommodations. Revelstoke is also easily accessible from the Okanagan by taking Highway 97 (Hwy 97a from Vernon on) north to Hwy 1 and then head east or from the Kootenays by taking Highway 95 north to Golden and heading west on Highway 1. 

During the summer visit Grizzly Plaza, where the band shell has entertainment nightly, and stroll through town to see over 60 buildings restored from the late 1800's.  At the entrance to downtown visit the Revelstoke Railway Museum which tracks the history of Canada's railways since 1883 using pictures, artifacts, original rail cars and steam engines. Just five minutes from Revelstoke is Canada's highest, at more then 175 metres (575 feet), concrete dam. The Revelstoke Dam offers free tours from mid-March to late October giving the curious an opportunity to gaze down its sheer sides.

Farther west take the kids to Beardale Castle Miniatureland. They'll love the handcrafted tiny village and the Toyland display.

 All ages will enjoy The Enchanted Forest with its boardwalk nature trail through old growth forest which includes an 800 year old, hollow cedar tree.

Naturalists love the area with Mount Revelstoke National Park and Glacier National Park offering spectacular scenery, abundant wildlife, and endless hiking trails. You can also enjoy the three Provincial Parks, all within an hours drive of Revelstoke, and many local parks. 

Not to be forgotten are the great camping opportunities.  The spectacular waterways offer whitewater adventures or a chance to hook a trophy Kokanee and golfers will enjoy the challenge of the tree lined, riverside 18 hole course.

Three Valley Lake Chateau Ltd. combines a large, modern resort with an historic town which allows visitors to step back in history to relive the colourful pioneer days of the late eighteen hundreds. 

Three Valley Gap Heritage Ghost Town - This fascinating pioneer community has more than 25 rescued and restored historic buildings, gathered from around BC, as well as replicas of local buildings all furnished and on display. The Historic Ghost Town is assembled near the site of the original town of Three Valley, which swelled and subsided in the 1880's.
