Hot Springs - The Flower Capital of the Rockies |
|||||
Once in Radium you'll find plenty to do with a large selection of shops, accommodations, and restaurants. The main attraction are, of course, the two hot spring pools which have an average temperature of 35 Celsius (95 Fahrenheit) which is perfect for relaxing after an active day. For the golfer there are two courses, one a bit shorter in length for the intermediate golfer, but still a challenge for the expert, and the other well established as one of the premier championship courses in BC. Along with the golf courses is a full facility resort with a reputation for fine food, convention facilities, racquet ball and tennis courts, and a complete exercise club. Located on the edge of Kootenay National Park wildlife abounds. A camera is a must as bighorn sheep and deer are part of the village's population, you'll see the occasional black bear or cougar and the skies are ruled by osprey and eagles. Among the annual events taking place are the Wings Over the Rockies Bird festival (See Birding BC), the Classic Car Show and the Fall Fair. Radium Hot Springs is an ideal spot for a visit with its relaxing atmosphere and small town friendliness. |
