Okanagan - South Border Country
- Kootenay |
Gold was the original lure and now nature and recreation are what draw people to the area. Anarchist Mountain lies to the west while to the east lies the Creston Valley near Kootenay Lake with water sports and golf. The
communities of Rock Creek, Midway, Grand Forks, Christina Lake,
Salmo and Creston are connected by The Crowsnest Highway (#3) along
which can be found attractions ranging from guest ranches to horseback
riding and camping while a drive off Highway 3 along Highway 3B will
take you to Rossland, known as Canada's Alpine City, Trail and Fruitvale
for museum tours, snowskiing, hiking and golf. The famous Dewdney
Trail parallels Highway 3 while former back country logging roads
now make excellent 4X4 and hiking trails offering access to thousands
of acres of crown land. A visit to the area you can enjoy several provincial parks, golf courses, ski hills, museums, industrial and wilderness/adventure tours and the warmth of some great Western hospitality. See Map of Southern BC - Okanagan Valley to Nelson |
