In the heart of the High Country region is the city of Kamloops.  This city of over 75,000, called the "meeting place" from the Shuswap Indian word.  Located in a valley where the North and South Thompson Rivers meet, as well as three major highways and two rail lines.

Aberdeen Hills Golf LinksThere is something for the whole family all year in the Kamloops area.  It enjoys over 2000 hours of sunshine per year, and with that you can enjoy excellent golfing on one of the five 18 hole courses all within 10-15 minutes drive from the city centre.  Hiking trials abound in Wells Gray National Park which is a short drive north of Kamloops, and to the east is Shuswap Lake the houseboat capital of Canada.

The Kamloops Wildlife Park is home to over 65 species of local and endangered animals.  In the city stroll along the riverside where you can dine at street side cafes and restaurants and shop for local products.

Guest RanchWorld class fishing in one of hundreds of  lakes and streams is only 20 minutes from town.  Kamloops recently hosted 19 countries in the World Fly Fishing Championships.

In the winter months you can enjoy spectacular alpine and cross country skiing on marked trails or you can cut your own.

Not only is Kamloops known for being a farming and ranching area which has it’s own cattle brand, in the early 80’s a test crop of ginseng was started and has now become a large cash crop for the area farmers.  You will notice in the fields black awnings that cover miles of farmland to protect the crop. Guest ranches are scattered throughout the region where you can experience the outdoor life and even a cattle drive or two in the fall.
