Valley Wineries - The
Okanagan Valley is British Columbia's oldest and main grape-growing
region. Although it lies on the same latitude as the northern German
and French vineyards, the Okanagan Valley is not all classified
as a "cool-climate"
growing region. Distinct microclimates occur throughout the Valley, from
the hot, sandy, desert soils in the southern valley to the cooler vineyard
sites in the north, with their deep topsoil and clay. Chardonnay, Merlot,
Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Gris and Pinot noir grow in the south, while
Pinot blanc, Pinot noir, Pinot gris, Riesling, and Gewürztraminer
are grown in the mid and northern regions, some left to freeze on the
vine for the region's famed ice wines. |
Spirit Ridge Vineyard Resort and Spa - Spirit Ridge is a boutique resort in Osoyoos, BC, with 94 spacious Villas & Suites and exceptional service. Steps away from vineyards, an award-winning winery, a native desert cultural centre, Canada's warmest lake, golf almost every day of the year, and a short drive to a wide range of attractions, shopping and services. Spirit Ridge is the South Okanagan's ultimate destination resort. |

REDS
Cabernet Sauvignon - Relatively new to the valley, this Bordeaux grape produces rich, full flavoured wines. Tastes range from peppery to black currant. Chancellor - Produces a fruity wine with notes of raspberry and cherry. Marechal Foch - This grape makes sturdy wines with plenty of fruit and berry flavours. With oak aging it can make it a rich, full flavoured wine. Merlot - This soft Bordeaux grape is mellow and rich in fruit and berry aromas. Pinot Noir - One of the world's great grapes, Pinot Noir is becoming widely grown throughout the valley. Spicy and smooth with a hint of dark cherry and plum. |
